Scallop Festival

Whitianga is renown for its delicious scallops harvested from Mercury Bay. This is celebrated with a scallop festival which is held every August. Up to 6000 people enjoy this popular event held around the marina and foreshore of Whitianga harbour. Ferry Landing Lodge is so close to the activities - we are just across on the Cooks Beach side of the harbour with the ferryboat just 5 minutes walk. Enjoy the festival knowing that a few extra drinks are not going to get you on the wrong side of the law! And of course you'll have no worries about car parking issues. In 2011 this event will be staged in September to coincide with Rugby World Cup events.Share

Festival of Speed

F-speedboats
The Festival of Speed is held every 2 years in April and with free admission it's a sure winner. Everything that goes fast is raced here including planes, helicopters, stock cars, motor bikes etc and includes the Off Shore Power Boat Race.

K2 Cycle Race

K2 Cycle Race, New Zealand's toughest 1 day cycle race which circumnavigates the Coromandel Peninsula. Held every October, this 200km event draws some of New Zealand's best cyclists as well as international riders. Each year the event starts at a different Peninsular town.

Whitianga One Base Gamefishing Classic

Held in February, New Zealand's best and biggest gamefishing competition which attracts anglers hoping to land a huge tuna or marlin. Watch the gamefishing boats land and weigh their catch at Whitianga Wharf, from your deck at Ferry Landing Lodge B&B holiday accommodation, Coromandel.

Whangamata Beach Hop

Celebrate the 50's and 60's at the Whangamata Beach Hop with rocknroll music, classic cars, hotrods, motorbikes. Held in March each year, this 5 day event is one of the largest of its kind in the world. This is a great fundraiser for local emergency services and water safety organisations which support the seaside town of Whangamata.

Cooks Beach Summer Gala

The Cooks Beach Summer Gala is a fun for the whole family with games, fun rides, food, music and 100's of stalls selling arts, crafts and home-made produce from around the Coromandel Peninsula. This popular event held at Cooks Beach is the major fundraiser for Whenuakite school.
